Welcome to the Top 3 Innovating Payments News Headlines for the Week of February 2, 2026.

 

In our top headline, the White House plans to meet today, February 2, with leaders from the banking and cryptocurrency sectors to discuss the future of major crypto legislation, which has been delayed due to conflicts between these two influential industries, said three industry sources, Reuters reported. 

 

Meanwhile, Nacha reported that the ACH Network hit new highs in 2025 as both standard and Same Day ACH usage continued to increase, in terms of both the number of payments and their total value. The total ACH Network volume for the full year reached 35.2 billion payments: Nearly a 5% rise compared to 2024.


Finally, Zelle reported that in 2025, 337 financial institutions either went live with or signed up to offer the service to their customers. According to a company news release, 97% of these were community banks and credit unions with assets under $10 billion.

1. Exclusive: White House Set to Meet with Banks, Crypto Companies to Broker Legislation Compromise (Reuters)

The White House will meet with executives from the banking and cryptocurrency industries on Monday to discuss a path forward for landmark crypto legislation, which has stalled due to a clash between the two powerful sectors, said three industry sources. The summit hosted by the White House's crypto council ‌will include executives from several trade groups. It will focus on how the bill treats interest and other rewards crypto firms can dish out on customer holdings of dollar-pegged tokens known as stablecoins, the people said. (Read more.)

 

 

2. Same Day ACH and Business-to-Business Payments Propel ACH Network Volume Growth in 2025 (Nacha)

The ACH Network reached new highs in 2025 as both standard and Same Day ACH usage continued to grow, both in the number of payments and their value. Full-year ACH Network volume totaled 35.2 billion payments, up nearly 5% over 2024. The value of those payments reached $93 trillion, an increase of almost 8%. Along the way there were several noteworthy milestones, including: December 2025 saw the ACH Network's highest ever monthly volume of 3.22 billion payments, and the highest monthly volume of Same Day ACH payments of 172.1 million. 3. Zellle® Widens the On-Ramp for Community Banks and Credit Unions (Zelle.com) 

Zelle today reported that in 2025, it continued to scale its network, expanding access to more community banks and credit unions seeking real-time payment capabilities:

  • 337 financial institutions went live or signed up to bring Zelle to their customers during 2025.
  • 97% were community banks and credit unions with assets of less than $10 billion and that serve a broad range of Americans – from rural farmers and teachers to flight attendants, small business owners, and historically underserved Black communities. (Read more.)
