Same Day ACH Processing Window

Effective on September 18, 2020

BACKGROUND

On September 3, 2018 NACHA voting membership approved 3 amendments to Same Day ACH: Faster funds availability, Same Day dollar limit increase and a new Same Day ACH processing window. These changes are spread out on the calendar with different effective dates.

Effective on September 18, 2020

This new processing window will allow ODFI’s and their Originator’s the ability to originate Same Day ACH Files for an additional 2 hours each banking day. With the new third window the ODFI has until 4:45 p.m. ET to send files to the ACH Operator. RDFI’s will receive files from the ACH Operator by 5:30 p.m. ET with interbank settlement occurring at 6:00 p.m. ET. Credits from the new window will need to be made available to Receiver’s by the end of the processing day.

This rule change is expected to become effective on September 18, 2020. How this rule is contingent upon receiving notification from the Federal Reserve Board of Governors of changes to the Federal Reserve services needed to support the new window. NACHA and the Federal Reserve have been partnering on this initiative.
