Same Day ACH: Faster Funds Availability

Effective on September 20, 2019

BACKGROUND:

On September 3, 2018 NACHA voting membership approved 3 amendments to Same Day ACH: Faster funds availability, Same Day dollar limit increase and a new Same Day ACH processing window. These changes are spread out on the calendar with different effective dates.

Effective on September 20, 2019

All Same Day ACH credits received in the first processing window will need to be made available by the RDFI to their accountholders by 1:30 p.m. local time.  Currently funds from non- Same Day ACH credits are required to be made available by the end of the Settlement Date (Exception- PPD credits made available to the RDFI by 5:00 p.m. local time the banking day prior to settlement. The PPD credits need to be available by opening of business on settlement.)

Once this change is effective all credits received by the RDFI prior to 5:00 p.m. on the banking day prior to settlement will need to be available by opening of business on settlement date. The majority of Financial Institutions are already doing this. Also, Same Day ACH credits received in the first processing window will need to be made available to receivers by 1:30 p.m. local time.
