The Legislation
Be aware of recent legislation impacting the healthcare industry

  • The Department of Health and Human Services issued the interim final rule on Healthcare EFT & ERA Operating Rules.
  •  Healthcare Providers must accept EFT Medicare payments by January 2014.
  • NACHA's CCD+ addenda, identified as the healthcare EFT standard for payment initiation, must include the TRN reassociation trace numbers.

The Impacts
Learn how to arm your staff with answers

  • An increased volume of ACH CCD transactions containing remittance data will need to be delivered to healthcare Providers.
  • Increased requests from healthcare Providers to deliver the remittance data requires FIs to educate personnel to recognize what is being requested by the Provider, and how to enroll them in the service or where to direct them within their organization.
  • A potential for decrease in volumes for check processing and lockbox operations will result as payments are moved from check to ACH.

The Business Opportunity
Discover ways to leverage the emerging client market

  • By January 2014, all Medicare claims payment reimbursements must be made via ACH.
  • Become a valuable resource and help healthcare Providers overcome the barriers to accepting ACH claims reimbursements.
  • Enhance business-to-business payment services by developing relationships with healthcare Providers, plans and vendors.
