NACHA Request for Comment: Expedited Processing and Settlement
This proposal would amend the NACHA Operating Rules to enable ACH entries to be processed and settled on the same day that they are originated. Currently, the Rules provide that the effective date of an ACH entry – the date on which the Originator intends settlement to take place - must be one banking day in the future for a debit, and one or two banking days in the future for a credit.

FFIEC Supplement on Authentication Guidance
The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council1 (FFIEC) issued a supplement to its Authentication in an Internet Banking Environment guidance, issued in October 2005. The purpose of the Supplemental Guidance is to reinforce the risk-management framework described in the original guidance and update the FFIEC member agencies' supervisory expectations regarding customer authentication, layered security, and other controls in the increasingly hostile online environment.

NACHA Seeks Financial Institution Participation in a Survey on ACH Processing and Settlement Windows
Update: At the request of several Members, the online survey will be available until the close of business on Friday, May 6, 2011. NACHA is conducting a survey of financial institutions to gain a better understanding of industry capabilities and capacity around the concept of developing more frequent and flexible processing and settlement schedules for the ACH Network.

NACHA – The Electronic Payments Association has received reports that individuals and/or companies continue to receive fraudulent emails that have the appearance of having been sent from NACHA. Please forward fraudulent emails claiming to be from NACHA to abuse@nacha.org.

UPDATE: The NEACH response is now attached to this story. ORIGINAL TEXT: NACHA requests industry feedback in connection with a proposed ACH Security Framework. The Framework is an outline of topics that potentially could be addressed by proposed new rules that, in the aggregate, would address the security and integrity of certain sensitive ACH data and require the authentication of certain parties to ACH transactions.

NACHA Phishing Alert (2/22/11) Email Claiming to be from the Electronic Payments Association
NEACH has received reports that individuals and/or companies have received a fraudulent email that has the appearance of having been sent from NACHA and signed by a non-existent NACHA employee. Specifically, this email claims to be from the Electronic Payments Association and appears to be coming from the email address "payments@nacha.org."

NEACH Mobile Banking Mini Survey Report Published
Earlier this year, Breffni McGuire, NEACH, and Marianne Crowe, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston conducted a quick three-question "Mini Survey" to update information they had gathered for a major survey on Mobile Banking in New England: The Current State of the Market, which was done in late 2008. NEACH has now published a report summarizing the results of this questionnaire, Mobile Banking in New England: Findings From Mini Survey.
